But when we got to Folsom Lake, this is what we saw.
I haven't been riding on the trail for all that long, but I've never seen the lake this dry before. It's awful.
Christine and Jana cresting the hardest hill of the morning:

And Jen resting at the top.

This shot I got by resting my camera on top of my helmet in an effort to pick up what was happening behind me. It's also a good way to spy on the riders who don't think I can see them. Maybe I should get a helmet-cam with a feed to a monitor on my handlebars.
We have only about 4 weeks to go before the ride we're training for: the Princess Promenade. This weekend we're off to Winters to play on some hills.
I went to LA this weekend and it was more than a little bit draining. Consequently my spinning classes haven't been all that exciting or energetic. But this weekend, barring some unforeseen events, I will be at home cleaning and contemplating life. What else is there to do while cleaning? Maybe I should get another book on CD. I just finished listening to Kite Runner by Khaled Husseini (also draining), and on my drive to LA, I listened to Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs.
Funny, but dark. I requested David Sedaris's new book from the library, and I'm number 203 on the 'hold list.' I guess I should think of something else to read/listen to in the meantime.
Anyway -- NCAC Exec Committee meets tonight, and unbelievably, our 'informal' monthly rides start this month. Come on out and ride with us! Bring friends! Saturday is the kickoff to our mentoring program with mentors getting together for a ride and then talking about being fabulous mentors for next year. Where the heck is the time going?
