Happy 2011.5!

So I'm just going to put this out there.  2011 sucked.  Then it got worse.  Then after that, the worse choked on the suck and ran into a dog while riding a bike.  BUT -- we still have 6 months to go.  So what are you going to do?  Draw yourself a clean slate, that's what!  Andre (shown below), declared June 14 (flag day) the day we would surrender to 2011, raise the white flag, and declare the beginning of 2011.5.  Complete with gluten free cake, champagne, and amazing friends.  I think 2011.5 is going to be a good year.

boys being boys.  i love ron and andre.  if you have to be a guy and you have to be straight, this is the best way to be both those things.
larae rubbing jana's shoulders.  also a photo i couldn't rotate.  i will work on it.

Round 2 of the party was outside (once the wind died down)- grilling, chatting, eating cupcakes

clapping.  . . i suspect the clapping was either in response to the amazing salad i made or emily's singing.  i'll just leave it at that.
 jana telling a story.  crazy!
 emily entertaining the crowd
oh -- look what showed up.  i took this photo because of the way the  (useless, as it turns out) citronella candle was reflecting through the glass table and onto the iPad.  in other words, about 1/17 of this photo is cool and artistic.
me and jane ann dancing to a song (we were dancing straight up and down -- turn your head) that i can't remember, but it was very fun.  until julie started telling us that neither of us could dance.  psh.  it's not like there was a prize.
 too cute.
see how happy people are in 2011.5?
julie and emily singing from fiddler on the roof.  and yes, you do have to hold your hands like that when you sing fiddler on the roof.

how often does this happen in YOUR living room?

yeah.  that's what i thought.

i can't thank all these amazing people enough.  but i'll try a little more here and there.

want to ride?

yeah -- we wanted to ride on sunday.  but winters was having some amazing powerful, tree-bending wind.

the shaws confer and assess the situations.

and we decide nothing will stop the Posse!
here we go.  for 40 miles of cross-winds, head-winds, and f#$&ing winds.
there are no other pictures because it was all we could do to stand up straight after this ride.

Summer vacation!

Jeremy and Kristin came for a quick visit to kick off the summer celebrations.  I picked up Jeremy from the airport and he was so excited to see me that . . . he promptly fell asleep.

But I took him wine tasting and he was grokkin' on this dog and then had a little bromance going with Todd Taylor.  Seriously.  It was like I wasn't even there.

Then Kristin and her D's showed up and I played the doting and only sometimes annoyed auntie.  See how D2 loves his pizza and veggies?
Cute Ds.  The cutest.  And if that girl keeps growing up so fast, I am going to scream.
Where's D2?  Find Uncle J and you will find D2.

Precious.  I like it when their mouths are closed.
Do you want me to sit in the back?  "WE WANT TO SIT WITH UNCLE J!!!!"  Ah.  Point taken.

Can't blame them.  He's a pretty cool guy.

[i got a new computer and i can't figure out how to rotate the photos and make them stay rotated. tilt your head.]
before the big scary cobra ride, for which devma is tall enough!

more excitement going in then coming out.
it's the kind that dangles.  they wouldn't let me go on because i didn't check my bag.  it's a dumb rule, but so it goes.  i would have gotten an 'after' picture, but i busy comforted the rather shaken little girl who stepped off this ride.

D2 is actually a bright kid, despite how he represents.
but he is a little bit of a doofus, just like he presents.
i'll endeavor to rotate the photos in the future.  this is D2 showing he is indeed tall enough to ride this ride!
though i'm not sure how happy he is about it.
JBird resurges his baseball career.

 for an excellent cause.

why yes, that is a gigantic alligator.

then i took j-bird to the water slides at my gym.  he figured out how to go faster and faster.
it's not easy to get a shot of someone coming out the chute of a waterslide.
here are devma's feet coming out.
and then when they were thoroughly exhausted, they all went home.  fun couple of days.  it took about a week to de-kid my house though.
