Deprived childhood

I had a pretty normal childhood, as far as those things go. Some siblings, some parents, some ups some downs. Overall, not too bad. But there's one thing that was always missing. One core element that people associate with elementary school, parties, friends, family -- one element that is missing, has always been missing, and that I will never be able to reclaim.

Do you know how good peanut butter and chocolate are together? Creamy peanut butter smothered in silky chocolate? I don't. Didn't. I had no idea. At some point in my childhood I developed an [as-yet-untested] lethal allergy to peanuts. So . . . no Reeses for me. This past weekend, someone left some Almond Butter at my house. I tend to stay away from most sandwich toppings that end in "butter" -- I don't buy them, I don't eat them, and I certainly don't spread them on chocolate. A couple (?) years ago my sister and her ever-growing daughter gave me some Sunflower Butter as a gift. I was leary, but it said in three different places that it had had no chance to commingle with other nuts, especially peanuts. I ate the whole jar. With a spoon. I'm not well-versed in things one does with ____butter, so I just ate it. I decided afterward that buying ____butter was probably not a good use of dollars or calories. It was dangerously good. I had a few spoonfuls with every meal, no matter what the rest of the meal was. Pasta and sunflower butter, sushi and sunflower butter. You get the idea.

So back to the Almond Butter. I have a whole jar of almond butter in my fridge, albeit a small one. I also have some dark chocolate left over from something or other. I broke off some of the chocolate and dipped it in the Almond Butter and just then, the heavens opened up and there was singing and sun, and celestial floaters.

I think I've had the Almond Butter for about three days and it's almost gone. I hope people will have some mercy on me and not bring any more into my house. I forgot if there are other food groups. I don't care if there are. I'm sticking with my chocolate and _____butter for now.

What's a celestial floater? It sounds nice.
