Abundance (in moderation)

The last newsletter I got from the farm to which I subscribe (a box of fresh veggies every week) talked about the abundance of the farm lately. So much growing, so much to pick, can, freeze, get to markets, pack in boxes for subscribers, etc.
In addition to my farm box, I also have a tiny garden in my backyard that has struggled a bit with the strange summer, my late planting, and perhaps lack of love. Recently it's been producing zucchini, crook-neck squash, a couple of cherry tomatoes here and there, even more recently, eggplant, and some sort of melon, which will hopefully be identifiable as it grows. Emily thinks it's going to be a sweet melon (a fruit) rather than the "winter melon" that is some kind of squash. I'm excited for the acorn squash to start poking out, but only blossoms so far. That's more of a fall plant anyhow.

So . . . here it is. Eggplant blossoms.

And one of the eggplant.

Cherry tomatoes (they are supposed to be orange).

And here's the melon. Seems it might have some ripening to do. I will be patient.
Cute little pepper. It didn't grow much, but it sure is purty.
Grapes getting purple.
Anyone want some green table grapes? Seriously. I think I have one million.

I will report back on the progress of the melon and the acorn squash. I just saw a photo of the stuffed acorn squash I made last year.
Can't wait!
