Hooray for Sun!

Saturday we had a great training ride -- the weather was gorgeous, we had a great group, and several first-time [with NCAC] riders joined us. I think it was about 70 degrees and I was pretty happy while I was putting sunscreen on in the morning.
It was a fairly fast, flat ride from Sacramento to Davis. I totaled just about 40 miles. We stopped at the Farmers' Market and someone offered me some roasted almonds (thanks Jana!). I met some new folks, and saw some old friends. I hid behind one such old friend all the way across the causeway and I was forced to ride at 19 mph the whole way (my upper limit) to keep him as a wind block. It's always fun to challenge myself to work just a little bit harder.

The last two weekends were not terribly good for my experiment of better training through not eating crap. Still coffee-free, and cleaned up quite a bit, but wine-tasting fundraisers and birthdays aren't quite in the crap-free plan.

I teach four spinning classes this week, a ride on Tuesday (outside), and a ride on
Saturday (outside). Tonight's class was fun, and hard, and people looked beat after. There's got to be balance between training hard and completely wearing out my legs. This week is a good opportunity to find it.
